# MCP Server Builder
Build MCP servers that expose tools an LLM can use reliably and safely.
## Concepts
MCP servers expose three primitives:
- Tools: actions the model can invoke (functions with typed inputs).
- Resources: readable data the model can pull in (files, records).
- Prompts: reusable prompt templates the host can offer users.
The host (e.g. an LLM client) connects over stdio or HTTP and calls these.
