Spin up disposable WordPress instances with @wp-playground/cli - auto-mount plugins/themes, run Blueprints, build shareable snapshots, switch WP/PHP versions, and debug with Xdebug.
---
name: wp-playground
description: Use for WordPress Playground workflows - fast disposable WP instances locally via @wp-playground/cli (server, run-blueprint, build-snapshot), auto-mounting plugins/themes, switching WP/PHP versions, Blueprints, and Xdebug debugging. Requires Node.js 20.18+; runs WP in WebAssembly with SQLite.
---
Disposable, SQLite-backed WordPress for testing, demos, and bug repros - never point it at production data.
## Workflow
1. Confirm Node >= 20.18 (`node -v`) and pick the project path to mount.
2. Quick spin-up: `npx @wp-playground/cli@latest server --auto-mount` (opens on localhost:9400, auto-detects the plugin/theme); add `--wp=` / `--php=` to pin versions.
3. Use repeatable `--mount=/host:/vfs` mappings for multi-plugin or mu-plugin setups.
4. Run scripted setups with `run-blueprint --blueprint=<file-or-url>` for CI validation.
5. Share repros via `build-snapshot --blueprint=<file> --outfile=site.zip`.
6. Debug with `--xdebug` and connect VS Code/PhpStorm; for browser-only, use playground.wordpress.net Blueprint links.
